ABILENE — Abilene Christian volleyball looks to extend its four-match win streak as it takes on a pair of in-state foes this week. The Wildcats host Tarleton State at Moody Coliseum at 6 p.m. Thursday before heading to the Metroplex to meet UT Arlington at the College Park Center at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Admission is free to all ACU volleyball matches at Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats will host Big Country Night and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night on Thursday in recognition of those that make the Abilene community special.
Both matches can be streamed on ESPN+, with Jaden West (play-by-play), Madisen O'Shields (analyst) and Rachel Lajaunie on the call against the Texans. Chris Mycoskie (play-by-play) and Whitney Sample (analyst) will call the action at the home of the Mavericks.
The Wildcats are undefeated over the past two weeks after picking up a pair of wins on the road versus Central Arkansas and Little Rock last week. A win streak of five or six matches would be the program's most consecutive wins since 2018.
ACU is second in the United Athletic Conference standings at 9-3 behind its best start to league play since 2018. The Wildcats punched their ticket to the conference tournament with a win over the Trojans. The UAC Tournament is set for Nov. 19-21 at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock, Ark.
The Wildcats' 17-7 record features their most wins of the Division I era and since 2011. Much of their success has come at home, where they've won their last eight matches through September and October. ACU could improve to 10-2 at Moody Coliseum with a win over Tarleton State, good for its most home victories since 2009. With a 7-5 mark on the road, the Wildcats have their most wins away from Abilene since 2010.
ACU aims to snap a four-match losing streak to Tarleton State after dropping a 3-0 affair in Stephenville, Texas on Oct. 10. Conversely, the Wildcats could earn a season sweep of UT Arlington for the second year in a row. ACU has won four straight in the series with a 3-1 victory in Abilene on Oct. 8. Aubrey Beaver collected 21 kills, while Rachel Koss and Brennan Ramirez registered 58 assists and 28 digs, respectively.
Ramirez continues to stuff the stat sheet as one of the most productive defensive players in the country. She ranks fourth nationally with 5.13 digs per set and ninth with 466 digs. Koss' 934 assists are good for 17th-most.
HISTORICALLY HOT START – ACU has crafted its best season in nearly two decades with a 17-7 start to 2026. It's their hottest start since 2010 (21-3) and throughout the Division I era (since 2013). The Wildcats have achieved their most wins in a season in the DI era and since 2011. ACU's 9-3 mark in conference play is its best opening since 2018. ACU went 8-3 in September and 8-2 in October, having won 16 of its last 20 matches. A fifth straight win would be the Wildcats' longest streak since 2018.
MOODY MAGIC – The Wildcats have played some of their best volleyball at Moody Coliseum this season with a 9-2 record at home. They've collected their most home victories since 2016 and won their last eight matches in Abilene. A ninth straight home victory would mark ACU's longest streak since 2016, and a 10th home win would be its most since 2009.
WELCOME TO ABILENE – The Wildcats have received early contributions from OH Alyssa Todd. She has emerged as arguably the top freshman in the conference with a team-best 258 kills and 3.23 kills per set. Todd set ACU's DI single-match freshman kills record with 22 at Little Rock on Oct. 31. Todd became the fastest freshman in ACU's DI era to reach 100 career kills, doing so in just 10 matches. She was named the UAC Freshman of the Week on four occasions. Todd is chasing Katelyn Mueller's ACU DI freshman record of 298 kills established in 2017. The last Wildcat freshman with 300 kills was Sara Oxford, who had 396 in 2011.
ACING IT – Senior libero Abby Christian has established herself as a force at the service over four seasons in Abilene. She is the Wildcats' DI leader in career aces with 119 across 111 matches. Christian surpassed ACU's DI record of 103 aces, established by Madeline Guffy from 2022-24. Guffy and Christian are the only DI Wildcats to surpass 100 aces. Christian is third in the DI record book with 0.29 aces per set.
WEEKLY HONORS – The Wildcats have been the recipients of 10 UAC weekly accolades this season between four student-athletes. Alyssa Todd has received Freshman of the Week distinction four times on Sept. 8, Oct. 19, Oct. 26 and Oct. 31. Hannah Gonzalez was named the Player of the Week on Sept. 14 and 21, and Brennan Ramirez was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14, Sept. 28 and Oct. 26. Rachel Koss was named the Setter of the Week on Oct. 19. Ramirez and Koss were three-time WAC honorees last season.
STAYING THE COURSE – A rarity in today's world of college athletics, ACU's roster touts seven seniors, including five that have spent their entire four-year careers in Abilene. Gonzalez, Koss, Abby Christian, Izabelle Larson and Alexis Strong each arrived at ACU in 2023 alongside head coach Ijeoma Moronu Alstrup. Also beginning her fourth season as head coach of the Wildcats, Moronu Alstrup described this year as a "senior season" of her own.  Additionally, Avery Thaler, Annaleise Sevier and Courtney Church are each in their third seasons at ACU.
FAMILY AFFAIR – Head coach Ijeoma Moronu Alstrup and assistant coach Chris Alstrup are one of six known Division I coaching duos that are married. The two met while Moronu Alstrup was playing professional volleyball in Alstrup's home country of Denmark. They have a daughter, Charlie, and a son, Jude. Other married coaching duos include Little Rock, Eastern Michigan, Montana State, Southern Utah and West Virginia. Other family ties on the Wildcats' roster include freshman OH/RS Garrah Prox and her sister, student manager Zoey Prox.
WILDCATS AROUND THE GLOBE – Much of ACU's team chemistry and camaraderie was built this summer on the program's international tour to Europe. From June 4-14, the Wildcats globetrotted across Sweden, Denmark and Germany, immersing themselves in local cultures while competing against overseas programs and taking part in volunteer work. ACU competed against Holte, one of the top programs in Denmark, the Danish National Team and the U17 German Regional National Team.
Admission is free to all ACU volleyball matches at Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats will host Big Country Night and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night on Thursday in recognition of those that make the Abilene community special.
