JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Abilene Christian volleyball's Alyssa Todd continued to stack hardware with United Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the third week in a row, the conference announced Monday. The outside hitter powered the Wildcats to a pair of road victories over Central Arkansas and Little Rock last week.
Todd was recognized by the UAC for the fourth time this season as she separates herself as the top freshman in the conference. The Wildcats have collected 10 UAC weekly accolades between four student-athletes and are 9-3 in conference play with sole possession of second place in the standings. It's their best mark since 2018.
Todd totaled 34 kills last week at a .357 hitting percentage, good for 3.78 kills per set. She committed just four attack errors alongside 12 digs and a block. The Aledo, Texas native ranked fourth in the UAC in kills, while her hitting percentage was good for fifth. Todd's 34.5 points were fourth-most in the conference.
Todd fueled ACU's attack in both matches. She paced the Wildcats with 12 kills versus the Sugar Bears on Oct. 29 as ACU rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pick up its first five-set win of the season and its first win over Central Arkansas.
Todd followed with a career effort in the Wildcats' 3-1 triumph over the Trojans on Oct. 31. She rattled off 22 kills at a .476 clip, strengthening her own ACU Division I single-match freshman kills record. Todd previously established the record with 21 kills at North Alabama on Sept. 24. It's the most kills by a UAC true freshman this season and the most by an ACU freshman since Jennie Hutt had 23 versus UT Permian Basin in 2008.
Todd showed off on both ends of the floor in Little Rock, notching her second double-double in her last three matches with 10 digs and a block. Her 22 kills and 22.5 points were each the most in a four-set UAC contest last week. The Wildcats swung at a .349 percentage, the second-best mark in their DI history, to total 64 kills.
Todd ranks fifth in the UAC and leads true freshmen 3.23 kills per set, while her 3.45 points per set are good for sixth. With a team-high 258 kills, she's chasing Katelyn Mueller's ACU DI freshman record of 298 in 2017.
In her last six matches, Todd has amassed 90 kills with 33 digs and seven blocks. Her 3.91 kills per set and 4.17 points per set each rank third in the UAC in that span.
ACU finds itself on a four-match win streak after going 8-2 in the month of October. It improved to 17-7 with its most victories since 2011 and its best start since 2010. The Wildcats are home for three of their final four matches of the regular season, beginning versus Tarleton State at 6 p.m. Thursday at Moody Coliseum for Big Country Night.
