ACU linebacker
Rashon Myles, Jr., has been named the Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week for his incredible performance against Austin Peay last Saturday.
Myles recovered three fumbles in the first half alone, setting up the Wildcats for a 24-3 halftime lead en route to their 45-31 victory over the No. 18 Governors to start United Athletic Conference play.
ACU scored touchdowns off two of Myles' fumble recoveries. The first takeaway came just 5:00 into the game when
Kaghen Roach knocked the ball out of Austin Peay quarterback Chris Parson's hand. Myles jumped on the ball, and one play later ACU QB
Stone Earle ran four yards up the middle for the opening score.
Midway through the second quarter, Parson mishandled an exchange in the backfield and Myles, again, was there to pounce on the ball. ACU needed six plays to punch it in on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Earle to
Dallas Dudley to go up 21-3.

On the ensuing kickoff, Austin Peay's returner let the ball bounce and Myles recovered it at the 15-yard line. However, ACU threw an interception to give the ball back to the Governors.
It was not immediately clear where Myles' three fumble recoveries in a single game rank historically because no records for fumble recoveries could be found in the record books for ACU, the FCS or NCAA football.
Myles also had six tackles during the game with only one of those plays gaining more than five yards.
The Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 UAC) play their nonconference finale in San Antonio against UIW on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
