JOLIET, Ill. – Former Abilene Christian pitcher Andrew Guardino has signed a professional contract with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. Guardino made his debut on August 15, striking out the first batter he faced in his inaugural appearance.
Guardino, a transfer from Tennessee Tech, spent the 2023 season with the Wildcats. The right-hander appeared in 12 games, logging 16 innings on the mound. He totaled 20 strikeouts, earned one win, and finished the year with a 6.48 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP.
Guardino now marks the tenth player, under the direction of head coach Rick McCarty, in three years to sign a professional contract to play baseball after playing at ACU.
