Wildcats Sweep Superlative Awards, Six on All-WAC Teams

The conference champion ACU men's tennis team was honored with a conference-leading eight All-WAC awards for the 2025 spring season, the league announced Thursday.

The Wildcats took home all three of the superlative awards, had four players named to singles teams, and one doubles pair recognized.

Senior Daniel Morozov was named the WAC Player of the Year. Leading the way at No. 1 singles and doubles for most of the spring, Morozov helped ACU win the WAC Team Tennis Championship in April by defeating UT Arlington and Grand Canyon. Morozov was also named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Juan Nunez was named WAC Coach of the Year for the second time in the past four years. Nunez, a former ACU tennis player himself, led the Wildcats to their first WAC title in 2022 and was subsequently honored as the conference's coach of the year that season.

Tomas Tischner earned the WAC Freshman of the Year award. Tischner provided the match-clinching point for ACU in both the semifinal and final of WAC tournament.

Senior Benjamin McDonald was joined on the All-WAC First Team by Morozov and Tischner. Alejandro Verdasco and Ethan Scribner made the top squad as a doubles team.

Merse Deli landed on the All-WAC Second Team.

As the conference champs, ACU earned an automatic spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will face No. 2 overall seed TCU in the first round of the Fort Worth Regional. The match is Friday at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online or in-person at the gate.
