ABILENE - The ACU men's tennis team has drawn No. 2 overall seed TCU in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Tournament, as announced during the selection show on Monday afternoon.
The Wildcats (13-10) will be joined by Oklahoma (16-10) and Illinois (15-11) in the Ft. Worth Regional. ACU will play the Horned Frogs on Friday at 6 p.m. at the outdoor Bartzen Varsity Courts. Oklahoma and Illinois square off Friday at 3 p.m. The winners meet in the second round on Saturday at 4 p.m.
ACU defeated two-time defending WAC champion UT Arlington in the conference tournament semifinals, and then rallied to beat Grand Canyon in the title match last Saturday. The Wildcats also won the WAC in 2022 and played Baylor in the NCAA Tournament that season.
Five players were named to the WAC All-Tournament Team led by Most Outstanding Player senior Daniel Morozov. Senior Benjamin McDonald, junior Ethan Scribner, redshirt sophomore Alejandro Verdasco and freshman Tomas Tischner were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Wildcats and Horned Frogs faced off in the season opener with TCU coming out on top, 7-0. Friday will be the fifth match between ACU and TCU in the past four years.
Tickets will cost $5. Fans are able to buy either in-person at the gate or online on the TCU ticketing page. In the case inclement weather, play will be moved indoors to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Fans will be permitted to attend matches that are moved indoors.
Video streaming is available through TCU's Playsight page, and live stats will be available as well.
