TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 89 Abilene Christian women's golf looks to continue its hot streak at the 12th annual Florida State Match Up at Seminole Legacy Golf Club from Friday to Sunday. The Wildcats will compete against a 13-team field featuring six power conference opponents, including the host, No. 7 Florida State.
ACU is also joined in the field by No. 25 Houston, No. 46 Alabama, No. 56 Illinois, No. 70 Missouri and No. 73 Indiana. No. 59 Kent State, No. 97 North Florida, No. 98 Tulane, No. 101 Chattanooga, No. 122 Florida International and No. 138 Troy round out the leaderboard.
The Wildcats have rattled off three consecutive top-three performances, most recently finishing in second place at the Riverbend Intercollegiate in Sugar Land on March 10-11. The tournament was headlined by Ryann Honea's second-place showing at 5-under 211, earning her Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honors in her third consecutive tournament.
Honea, ranked 61st in the nation by Clippd, has four top-two efforts under her belt through seven tournaments, including a pair of individual titles at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate and the West Texas Classic. She'll join Sydney Williams, Marissa Loya, Julia Vollmer and Jiyu Han in representing ACU.
Williams carded her best performance of the season at the Riverbend Intercollegiate, finishing in 14th place with an 8-over 224. She's notched three top-30 efforts in a row after not finishing better than 42nd through her first three tournaments of the season.
Loya and Vollmer, two freshmen from San Antonio, have impressed early on in their first years at the collegiate level. Loya's tie for 18th place at the Riverbend Intercollegiate was her third consecutive top-20 performance, while Vollmer has a pair of top-15 showings this season.
In her most recent action at the West Texas Classic, Han was one of three Wildcats to tie for 11th place at Abilene Country Club. It was her best finish of the season, as she has improved her placement in her last four tournaments. Han logged three top-10 performances in 2023-24.
The Seminoles lead the field with the nation's top-ranked college golfer in Mirabel Ting and No. 6 Lottie Woad, both All-Americans. Ting has been featured in the national top 10 all season and has captured four individual championships this season with an adjusted stroke average of 67.3. Woad has finished in the top three in each of her seven tournaments with a 68.3 stroke average.
The Wildcats have encountered several of the tournament's programs at previous events this season. They met Indiana, Alabama and North Florida at the Boilermaker Classic, competed against Kent State at the Red Raider Invitational and saw Missouri at the White Sands Invitational. ACU saw Houston take first place at the Riverbend Intercollegiate as Moa Svedenskiold claimed the individual title.
ACU will begin Friday's first round on hole No. 10 at the par 72, 6,250-yard course. Han will get the group started at 9:35 a.m. (ET), followed by Vollmer, Loya, Williams and Honea in 10-minute increments. They'll be grouped with golfers from Chattanooga and North Florida.
