NACOGDOCHES - ACU Baseball is on the road this week to finish out their non-conference away schedule. The Wildcats will first make it to Nacogdoches to face Stephen F. Austin for a midweek and then travel down to Huntsville to take on Sam Houston in a three-game weekend series.
The last time ACU was matched up with SFA, the Wildcats were able to take the series in 2024 but were unable to sweep, with the Lumberjacks taking the first game.
ACU is overall 11-5, currently on an eight-game win streak. The Wildcats were able to stay 9-1 at home, as well as gaining their second win on Globe Life Field against Wichita State.
The offensive charge starts with Nick Arias, who leads the Wildcats with his .365 batting average with 23 hits, totaling 16 RBIs. Grant Watkins had a weekend on the box, hitting two home runs in Globe Life, which now gives him the lead in home runs at four.
The Wildcats pitching staff has been able to accumulate 161 strikeouts in the past 16 games, with Dominick Reid holding 36 of those. Reid is currently 16th in the nation for strikeouts, and the rest of the staff is not far behind them. Freshman Brady Coe has 4 saves so far on the season, with Chandler Benson holding one as well.
Stephen F. Austin is currently 7-9 on the season and 2-4 in conference. The Lumberjacks opened conference play against The University of New Orleans and recently played Lamar last weekend. They were able to secure the first game but dropped the next two of the series.
Josh Ibe currently leads the Lumberjacks offensively with a .366 batting average, with two doubles, a triple, and three home runs. Mark Hennings also creates waves. With two triples on the year and counting, he has speed, also adding a total of 10 RBIs.
Cody Templeton, LHP, has a total ERA of 1.53 and has been able to produce a total of 26 strikeouts. Dylan Mulcahy follows with a total of 20 strikeouts, with an ERA of 4.76.
