12/15/2025 4:19:00 PM | Men's Basketball
TUCSON, Ariz. - The ACU men's basketball team, riding a three-game winning streak, plays its toughest opponent yet -- so far this season, the toughest team in all of college basketball -- with a trip to face the No. 1 ranked Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN+ and the ACU Sports Network.
ACU (7-3) had its most impressive victory in its last game -- beating New Mexico State 77-69 in Abilene on Dec. 6. The Aggies entered that week with a 6-0 record, but lost a neutral site game to South Alabama, and then to ACU. The Wildcats had their best shooting game of the season -- making 50% from the field -- and also sank a season-high 19 free throws.
ACU pieced together consecutive victories over Jarvis Christian and Pepperdine before taking down NMSU.
Arizona (9-0) has defeated five other ranked teams, including a 96-75 trouncing of then-No. 12 Alabama last Saturday. Arizona has also beaten ACU's conference bunkmate Utah Tech. The Wildcats boast an offense which scores 89 points per game. They also snag 43 rebounds on average -- the 11th-highest total in the NCAA.
Tuesday's game is the start of an incredible two-game road trip. ACU follows its game at the No. 1 team by playing No. 10 BYU in Provo, Utah, on Friday at 8:30 p.m. CT. Friday's game will be broadcast on TNT, truTV and HBO Max by Brian Anderson, Grant Hill, and Andy Katz.
