ABILENE - The ACU football team will host a first round playoff game for the second consecutive season as revealed during the FCS Playoffs Selection Show on Sunday morning.
The Wildcats, who earned the No. 10 overall seed, will play the Lamar Cardinals (8-4overall, 5-3 Southland) on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 12 p.m. at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium.
Tickets are on sale now. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
ACU won its second straight United Athletic Conference championship with a 49-28 come-from-behind victory on Saturday night at Central Arkansas. The Wildcats (8-4, 7-1) have won four games in-a-row, including a 31-28 thriller over then-No. 2 Tarleton State on Nov. 1. The Texans and Wildcats are the only two UAC programs among the 24-team playoff field. Austin Peay and Southern Utah were among the first four teams left out.
ACU and Lamar have not played since Sept. 1, 2022, which marked Keith Patterson's first game, and first win, as the Wildcats head coach. ACU has won three straight over the Cardinals, though Lamar holds a 13-10 lead in the series which dates back to 1953.
The ACU-Lamar winner advances to play No. 7 Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 12 p.m. The Wildcats already defeated the Lumberjacks earlier this season, a 28-20 victory in Abilene on Sept. 6.
