LUBBOCK, Texas -- Abilene Christian offensive coordinator
Graham Harrell will be inducted into the Texas Tech Ring of Honor on Saturday.
Harrell's name will be unveiled on the West Stadium Building to Jones AT&T Stadium at halftime of the Red Raiders' game against Oklahoma State, which kicks off at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. The legendary quarterback will also be recognized for his upcoming National Football Foundation Hall of Fame induction. The NFF Hall of Fame ceremony is Dec. 9 in Las Vegas.
As Tech's starting quarterback from 2006-08, Harrell passed for nearly 16,000 yards, led the Red Raiders to a No. 2 national ranking, and threw perhaps the most memorable touchdown in the school's history to Michael Crabtree to beat Texas in the final seconds.
Harrell won the Sammy Baugh Trophy as a junior in 2007 when he threw for 5,705 yards, and was the AT&T All-America Player of the Year, and Sporting News Co-Player of the Year as a senior in 2008.
Harrell was hired as ACU"s offensive coordinator in January, and has helped lead the Wildcats to average 38 points per game in United Athletic Confereonce play -- the second-best total in the league.
ACU quarterback
Stone Earle is first in the UAC in passing touchdowns (15), passing yards (1,877), and completion percentage (69%). Earle's 271 yards of total offense per game are second most in the UAC.
The Wildcats also have three of the top ten players in receptions per game (
Javon Gipson - 6th,
Dallas Dudley - 8th,
J.J. Henry - 10th), and two of the top six players in rushing yards (
Jordon Vaughn - 5th,
Rovaughn Banks, Jr., - 6th).
ACU has been nationally ranked for 21 consecutive weeks, and is back on the field on Saturday, Nov. 1, against rival Tarleton State for Homecoming.
