PAYSON, Ariz. – Abilene Christian claimed second place as a team and boasted the Western Athletic Conference individual champion in Ryann Honea at the WAC Women's Golf Championship on Sunday.
"Tough way to end the week," said ACU Head Coach Rob Bennett. "Our team battled it out, so to come up two shots short really hurts. They are a special bunch and they have set the bar very high for our program!"
Honea shot a 75 in the final round to hold off Becca Tschetter of Grand Canyon and Sofia Rodriguez of Tarleton State by three strokes. The win propels Honea into the NCAA Tournament.
"I am so excited for Ryann to win the WAC and make the NCAA Tournament," said Bennett. "She played great all week on a tough course and she definitely earned it."
