Honea Tied for 29th After First Round at NCAA Waco Regional

WACO, Texas - Abilene Christian women's golf's Ryann Honea tied for 29th place after the first round of the NCAA Waco Regional at Ridgewood Country Club on Monday. Honea shot 3-over 73 to tie for the top showing by a golfer competing as an individual.

Honea will begin her second round at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday from hole No. 1. After three rounds, the top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team will move on to the national championships.

Honea birdied No. 5 and closed at 1-over 36 on the back nine. She tied for second in the field on par 3s at 1-under and drew for 14th with 13 pars. Honea is matched with fellow individuals Malisone Chanthapanya of North Texas and Grace Quintanilla from Texas State.

SMU leads the field at 3-under 277, with Texas A&M, Oregon, Tennessee and Tulsa rounding out the top five. The Aggies' Vanessa Borovilos, the Ducks' Kiara Romero and the Lady Vols' Kyra Van Kan top the leaderboard at 4-under 68.
