BRYAN – Ryann Honea completed her historic week in the NCAA Bryan Regional on Wednesday.
The sophomore from San Angelo represented ACU and its first-year women's golf program at Traditions Golf Club and finished in 50th place.
Honea started off well on Wednesday with a birdie on the par-five, 520-yard 10th hole. She finished the day at five-over with a 77.
"Ryann hit the ball beautifully today, but just couldn't get any putts to fall," said ACU Head Coach Rob Bennett. "A few unlucky breaks cost her, but overall, she was in good position most of the day. Regional Championships are set up tough and we learned a lot this week on what we will need to do as a team when we get to this point next season."
Honea opened on Monday with a 75 and had matching 77s in the final two rounds to end up at 13 over par. She finishes the three rounds with four birdies.
Honea qualified for the Bryan Regional by winning the Western Athletic Conference Tournament. The regional capped a strong first season for the rookie program.
"This was an amazing year and I'm already looking forward to being back at the NCAA Tournament next season," said Bennett.
