Wildcats Pounce on TCU, 8-3

ABILENE – Abilene Christian jumped all over the Horned Frogs early and carried off an 8-3 win over Texas Christian on Tuesday.
The Wildcats scored seven runs in the first inning.
After a pair of walks to start the first, Gino D'Alessio singled to load the bases ahead of a three-run double to left-center by Maddox Miesse. Following a TCU error and a pitching change, Zandt Payne came through with an RBI bunt single for a 4-0 lead and Ranse Radtke executed a squeeze bunt to make it 5-0.
Garrett Williams produced an RBI single and Holden Rook doubled before Benjamin Greer came through with a sacrifice fly for the 7-0 lead.
TCU scored twice in the third and once in the fourth but stranded a dozen runners.
The Cats scored on an error in the fifth for the final margin.
ACU had six doubles in the game with Payne getting two to go with his bunt single. Miller Ladusau, DJ Van Atten, Rook and Miesse had one each. D'Alessio, Radtke and Williams all had singles.
Brett Garcia pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Caden Greanead struck out four in his three scoreless innings of relief. Blaine Palmer and Cade McGarrh also worked scoreless innings.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend with a three-game WAC series at home against California Baptist.
