ST. GEORGE, Utah – Abilene Christian scored nine runs on 11 hits but Utah Tech rallied to take the win 12-9 on Saturday.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an error but the Blazers scored three in the home half for a 3-1 lead.
Utah Tech scored four more in the second for a 7-1 lead.
ACU made it 7-2 in the third on a sacrifice fly by
Sydney Kaiser.
The Wildcats erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning with an RBI double by
Olivia Marble, a two-run double by
Catrin Hoffman, an RBI single by
Sammie Shelander and a three-run home run by
Elizabeth Schaefer to center field. The rally left the Cats up 9-7.
That was the end of the scoring for ACU.
UTU made it 9-8 in the fourth and scored four runs on a two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth.
ACU had 11 hits, led by Shelander and Kaiser with two each.
Kaydee Bennett, Marble, Hoffman,
Riley White,
Rachel Cook, Schaefer and
Skylar Padgett had one apiece.
Lina Russo took the loss in the circle.
The Wildcats return home next weekend for a three-game WAC set with Seattle, starting with a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
