SUGAR LAND – Abilene Christian golfers finished 1-2-3 and the Wildcats won the HCU Huskies Intercollegiate on Tuesday by 28 strokes.
Ryann Honea won the individual title with Sydney Williams in second and Manon Guille tied for third.
"What an amazing week," said ACU Head Coach Rob Bennett. "We really felt like this was just a matter of time. We have been close to a win a few times this spring, so to finally make it happen feels great. It is really awesome for Ryann to get her first collegiate win as well! She was so steady and confident and I am very happy for her! I am so proud of this team for fighting through some challenges this week and for carrying each other all tournament! We came here to make a statement and I think we accomplished that goal."
Honea finished with rounds of 69, 73 and 72 to finish two under par at 214. She birdied holes 7, 12 and 13 on her even-par third round and finished the tournament with 12 birdies.
Williams and Honea had shared the individual lead with matching rounds of 69 and 73. Williams shot a 77 in the final round with birdies on 1 and 17. Williams finished at 219 with nine birdies and two eagles.
