ABILENE – Abilene Christian hopes to keep the question unanswered when it plays Texas Permian Basin on Friday: How long can the Cats keep turning in shutouts?

The team has not allowed a goal in four games while going 3-0-1 and has claimed back-to-back defensive Player of the Week honors in the Western Athletic Conference.

The teams kick it off at 7 p.m. on Friday at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene.

ACU Storylines

ZIP TIE: The only non-win of the season came at Texas-El Paso where the teams settled for a scoreless tie. The other three matches have been ACU victories, including a 1-0 season-opening stunner at Lamar, picked to win the Southland Conference.

BRACE CHAYSE: Chayse Thorn leads the Wildcats with four goals this season, getting a pair of braces at Texas Southern and at home against Nicholls. She has four two-goal games for her career at ACU.

WINNERS: Chayse Thorn leads the Cats with two game-winning goals. The third belongs to Peyton Hill, who had the lone goal at Lamar. Jordan Michie, Georgia Guenther and Hannah Vetromile have one each.

MORE AWARDS: One week after McCarly Holloman earned ACU's first-ever WAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, Macie Stephens made it two in a row for the Wildcat defense.

ASSISTING: ACU has five assists this season by five players. Taylor Denn, McCarly Holloman, Hannah Martin, Lox Neves and Jordan Michie have one each.

NOT HAPPENING: Lili Ross has logged 225 of ACU's 360 minutes in goal and has turned away all nine shots on goal she has faced.

Scouting the Falcons

Defender Hayley Sawyer and midfielder Tatiana Leggiero were named to the Lone Star Conference Watch List. Leggiero missed much of 2022 with a shoulder injury.
This will be the season opener for Texas-Permian Basin. The Falcons were 5-8-3 last season overall and 3-7-2 in the Lone Star Conference of NCAA Division II.
