Wildcats Absorb First WAC Loss

ARLINGTON – Dario Kmet won in singles and Savan Chhabra and Ethan Scribner took a doubles match but Abilene Christian absorbed its first WAC loss on Thursday, falling to Texas-Arlington, 5-2.
Chhabra and Scribner took their third-line doubles match, 6-1 to give ACU an early lead in doubles but the Mavericks came back to win the doubles point. The tandem remained perfect in WAC matches and stretched its winning streak to five matches.
Kmet moved to 3-0 in WAC singles with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win over Anton Shepp in No. 1 singles.
The Wildcats (11-10, 2-1) return to action on Saturday, visiting Texas-Rio Grande Valley at 10 a.m.
