
Men’s Tennis Loses First Home Match of the Season to Shockers

ABILENE — Abilene Christian (3-5) fell to Wichita State (6-7) 4-3 on Thursday at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. Abilene Christian secured singles victories at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 positions but was unable to clinch the doubles point.
Wichita State claimed the doubles point in the first two matches, while the third match was in favor of the Shockers before going unfinished.
In singles play, the Wildcats responded strongly. Luis Jose Nakamine recorded a straight-sets victory, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. Tomas Quesada Perez added another point for the Wildcats at No. 2 singles with a tight 6-4, 7-6 win, while Jorge Aza recorded the Wildcats' final point with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
With the loss, the Wildcats are now 0-4 all time against the Shockers.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will host the Cardinals from Lamar University on Saturday, with tip off scheduled for noon. Lamar is 5-7 so far this season, recording a 4-3 win over Lubbock Christian, who the Wildcats beat with the same final score.
If the Wildcats find victory on Saturday, it will be their first win over a Division I opponent this season.
