Golf Begins WAC Title Defense Friday

ABILENE – Abilene Christian begins its WAC Men's Golf Tournament title defense in Nevada on Friday at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City.
Warm weather awaits the 13-team field in which Sam Houston and New Mexico State are the higher-ranked teams.
ACU sends six golfers to the tournament with the five-man team being some combination of Thomas Buisson, Grégoire Hoyeau, Brian Comegys, Zane Heusel, Logan Diomede and Charlie Jackson.
Diomede and Hoyeau lead the team in stroke average at 74.83 and 74.94, respectively. Buisson has played 24 rounds to lead the team in experience this season.
Hoyeau (68), Diomede (68), Jackson (69) and Heusel (69) all have sub-70 rounds this season.
Buisson this season has averaged a team-leading 73.75 in the first round while Diomede has been the best finisher at 73.33. Buisson leads the team with 59 birdies this season while Heusel has 57 to go with two eagles.
The first round launches Friday with the tournament set to conclude on Sunday. Boulder Creek is made up of three nine-hole courses: Desert Hawk, Coyote Run and El Dorado.
