ABILENE – Abilene Christian fell behind early but rallied for an important 4-3 win over Seattle on Sunday.
The Wildcats lost the doubles point despite a victory at No. 3 by Savan Chhabra and Ethan Scribner.
Daniel Morozov evened the score temporarily with a win at second singles, but Seattle led 2-1 with four matches on the court and all four went to a third set.
Dario Kmet won at No. 1 and Cesar Barranquero took his third-line match for a 3-2 lead before Benjamin McDonald clinched the win with a victory at No. 5.
"We have got to do better," said ACU Head Coach Juan Nunez. "I think that's a really dangerous team that we played today but we didn't show up like we did Friday. The good news is that we got the win and we showed our pedigree when we got down doubles and came back and won. When you get into the conference, you can't come out like we did today. Any team can surprise you."
Sitting atop the WAC standings at 2-0, the Wildcats play at Texas-Arlington on Thursday and at Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday. The loss lowered the Redhawks' conference record to 1-1.
