Tatrow drives in four in Sunday finale against HCU

ABILENE – Senior Grayson Tatrow drove in four runs, Tanner Tweedt brought in a pair of runs, but the ACU baseball team fell late to Houston Christian on Sunday in the final game of the four-game series. The Wildcats (10-3) led 7-1 after four innings, but the Huskies (1-11) answered back with three in the fifth and ultimately scored four times in the ninth to take the lead. ACU's five-game winning streak comes to an end as it shifts its focus to the start of WAC play next weekend when SFA comes to Crutcher Scott Field for three games.

How It Happened
- HCU hit a solo homer in the top of the first off ACU starter Austin Glaze, but the 'Cats responded with a pair in the home half to grab the lead. Tweedt doubled in Miller Ladusau and Tatrow launched a sacrifice fly out to center to score Logan Britt. ACU led 2-1 after one.
- Glaze settled down nicely, getting all the way to the fourth inning before being pulled with one out. Meanwhile, his offense gave him a nice cushion. Tweedt walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, and Tatrow followed with a bases-clearing, three-run double to left center to bust open an early 6-1 lead.
- Britt brought Ladusau home on a sac fly in the home fourth to make it 7-1, but that would be it for the Wildcat offense on Sunday.
- HCU clawed back with a three-run double in the top of the fifth, and then could not score off Max Huffling. The lefty dominated for three innings to get the game to the ninth with ACU in front, 7-4.
- The Huskies hit a three-run homer off Drake Boggan to tie it up, then took the lead with a solo shot the next at-bat. Sam Berberich got the final two outs to send it to the home ninth, but the 'Cats went quietly with three strikeouts to fall in the end.

Stat Pack
- Glaze went 4.1 innings allowing two earned on one hit with eight strikeouts. The right-hander earned a no-decision.
- Adam Byrd allowed a pair of runs in 0.2 inning, but Huffling delivered with three scoreless innings on two hits with three strikeouts.
- Boggan took the loss, allowing four earned on three hits in the ninth, while Berberich got the final two outs with a strikeout.
- Tatrow broke out with four runs driven in, going 1-2 with a walk.
- Tweedt, Ladusau, and Crew Parke each tallied the other three hits for the 'Cats. ACU was held to four for the game.

Beyond the Box Score
- Tatrow drove in 13 runs on the weekend, and only had two for the season coming in. The senior also had just three hits for the season coming into the weekend and tallied seven hits in four days against HCU.
- Ladusau and Tweedt each drove in six runs this weekend, while Ladusau led the way with 12 total bases. Tatrow and Britt each had 11 total bases this weekend.

On Deck
- ACU is off in the midweek for the second-straight week and then will welcome in SFA for three games to open WAC play. Friday night's game gets going at 6:05 p.m., Saturday's start time is at 3:05 p.m., and Sunday's begins at 1:05 p.m.
