Utah Teams Visit Volleyball This Week

ABILENE – Abilene Christian attempts to move above .500 in the Western Athletic Conference volleyball standings this week with Southern Utah and Utah Tech visiting Moody Coliseum.
 
The Wildcats host Southern Utah at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Utah Tech at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
 
ACU comes into the matches at 7-9 overall and 2-2 in the Western Athletic Conference after its 3-2 win at California Baptist on Saturday.
 
ACU Storylines
 
QUAD: Abilene Christian features four attackers averaging more than two kills per set. Ashli Edmiston leads the group with 2.68 kills per set, followed by Bryley Steinhilber at 2.63, Braden Bossier at 2.28 and Breanna Box at 2.07. In four WAC matches, Steinhilber leads the pack with a 3.81 kills per set average with Edmiston checking in at 3.22.
 
BIG DAY: Bryley Steinhilber comes off of her best outing as a Wildcat. She had 25 kills in the win over California Baptist.
 
GET HELP: Madeline Guffy leads the Wildcats with 8.98 assists per game. She steps it up against the WAC, averaging 10.5 assists per conference set.
 
DIGS DUG: Sara Carrizales leads the Cats this season with 3.82 digs per set. Andie Sheppard has shouldered a load in conference games, averaging 3.91 digs per WAC set while Carrizales checks in at 3.06.
 
ACE CU: The Wildcats are 28th in the NCAA with 113 aces this season. Madeline Guffy leads ACU 23 while Abby Christian has 22 and Sara Carrizales 18. Guffy and Christian each have seven aces in the four WAC matches thus far.
 
BLOCKAGE: Breanna Box leads the Wildcats with 0.63 blocks per set, followed by Braden Bossier with 0.54.

  • Southern Utah is 4-10 overall and 0-4 in the WAC after losing in three sets at Utah Tech on Monday.
  • Andrea Spasojevic leads the T-birds with 2.47 kills, 15 aces and 3.2 digs per set. She averages 2.54 kills per set in WAC matches.
  • Kennady Charlton leads SUU with 7.72 assists per set.
  • Carissa Richie averages 0.78 blocks per set and Hana Makonova gets 0.75 per set to lead Southern Utah.
