
Wildcats tripped up in series finale

How It Happened
- Lamar's offense stayed hot and came out the gates with Reese Durand doubling with two outs and was driven in Matthew McDonald giving the Cardinals the early 1-0 league.
- The Cardinals added to their lead by one in the top of the second after a lead off double by Josh Blankenship, and was later driven in by Kirkland Banks with an RBI groundout. It was 2-0 Lamar going into the bottom of the second.
- Lamar kept rolling on offense in the top of the third starting with a leadoff triple from Kevin Bermudez who was later driven in by and RBI single from McDonald, which was his second RBI of the game.
- Blankenship kept it going for Lamar in the top of the third with an RBI single driving in Chase Kemp. It was 4-0 Lamar going into the bottom of the 3rd.
- The Wildcats broke through in the bottom half of the 3rd when Miller Ladusau had a two RBI double driving in Colton Eager and Tanner Tweedt. The Ladusau double cut Lamar's lead in half, making it 4-2 in favor of the Cardinals after three complete
- Blankenship was at it again in the top of the 5th driving in McDonald who doubled early in the inning. Blankenship's second RBI of the day made it 5-2 Lamar going into the bottom of the 5th.
- ACU was able to cut into the Lamar lead in the bottom of the 5th when Tanner Tweedt ripped an RBI double down the left field line making it 5-3 Lamar going into the 6th
-After Adam Byrd pitched a clean frame in the top of the 6th, the Wildcats were able to scratch out another run on a Mitchell Dickson SAC Fly to right making it a one run game heading into the final three innings
- After a scoreless 7th for both teams, the Cardinals were able to add on to their lead with a SAC fly from the nine hole hitter Ethan Ruiz. Lamar took a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the 8th.
-In the 9th Kelby Weyler added to the Lamar lead with an RBI single putting the Wildcats down 7-4 going into their final at bat.
-In their final three outs at Crutcher Scott Field, the Wildcats couldn't mount a comeback against the Cardinals and dropped the final game of the series by a score of 7 to 4.
