Softball travels to Tarleton for three-game series

ABILENE - After earning a 2-1 series win over Lamar last weekend, the Wildcats are looking to continue their success in WAC play on the road at Tarleton. Abilene Christian currently sits in second place in the Southwest Division with a two-game lead over the Texans. A successful weekend for the Wildcats would go a long way in getting better seeding for the WAC tournament.

Last Time Out

Wildcats Storylines (19-20, 10-5 WAC)

  • The team erupted for a season-high 16 runs in game two of their series with Lamar last weekend. The Wildcats tallied 11 hits in each of their three games against the Cardinals.
  • Calie Burris continues to lead the Wildcats at the plate with a .408 batting average and a .694 slugging percentage. 
  • Laurén Schiek was stellar out of the bullpen for the Wildcats last week throwing five scoreless innings over two appearances. 

Scouting the Texans (23-17, 8-7 WAC)

  • Tarleton is coming off of a sweep of Sam Houston last weekend that earned them both Hitter and Pitcher of the Week from the WAC. Georgia Capell was named the Hitter of the Week while Reagan Chism earned the pitching honors.
  • Capell leads the Texans with a .388 batting average and currently leads the WAC with an .819 slugging percentage.
  • The pitching staff holds a 3.71 ERA led by Chism with a 2.41 ERA. Tristan Bridges leads the team with 111 innings pitched and has a 3.34 ERA on the year.
