ABILENE, Texas – The Wildcats erupted for 16 runs to take the first game and the series, but fell 6-3 in the finale to earn the split for the day. Four different Wildcats homered on the day and five players registered a multi-hit game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1
- Mercedes Eichelberger launched her first homerun of the season with a leadoff shot in the first inning.
- Two batters later, Miranda Lista launcher her second homerun of the season driving in two runs to being the Wildcats lead to 3-0.
- Lamar would launch a solo shot of their own in the top of the second to cut the lead to 3-1.
- Riley White hit a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the second to push the ACU lead to 6-1.
- Lamar answered once again with a three-run shot in the top of the third to cut the lead to 6-4.
- Laurén Schiek took over on the mound for the Wildcats after the homerun and pitched a scoreless three innings to close out the game.
- The Wildcats would score seven runs in the third, all unearned, as they capitalized on three Lamar errors in the frame. Rose Gonzales launched a two-run shot for the Wildcats third homer in the game.
- Lista drove in another run in the bottom of the fourth and Sydney Kaiser came up with a two-RBI pinch-hit triple to push the Wildcats to the 16-4 win.
Game 2
- It was Lamar who got on the board early in game two as they led off the game with a solo homerun.
- Avery Miloch answered with a solo shot of her own in the bottom of the second.
- Lamar retook the lead with a run in the top of the third and added another run in the fourth to go up 3-1.
- An errant throw in the fifth inning allowed two more Cardinal runs to score.
- Matti Reiling drove in Logan Gaspar in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2.
- Lamar added another run in the top of the seventh and Calie Burris tripled to bring home a run in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough as ACU fell 6-3.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Mercedes Eichelberger and Miranda Lista both scored four runs in the opening game, tying five other Wildcat players for the most scored in a single game.
- Calie Burris was walked four times in the opening game which also tied for a program record in a single game.
- Burris has now been walked 26 times on the season, the most in a season for a Wildcat. She surpasses Taylor Brown who drew 24 walks in the 2016 season. She is now just six walks from drawing the most in a Wildcat career.
- The Wildcats 16 runs are the teams' second-most runs scored in a game.
- Matti Reiling went 4-4 on the day between both games.
- Both Laurén Schiek and Hannah Benavides had solid relief appearances on the day. Schiek went three scoreless innings while Benavides went three innings giving up just one run.
- Burris' triple in game two was the first of her career.

- The Wildcats are back at Poly Wells Field for a single game against UT Arlington on Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
