WACO, Texas – The ACU golf team took part in the first ever Bear Brawl on Monday, taking on host Baylor and Texas State in match play. The Wildcats dropped a pair of heartbreakers, falling in a one-hole playoff against Baylor before conceding the match to the Bobcats on the 18th green.

- "This was a fabulous event and a terrific opportunity to compete against a Power-5 school on their home course. We played a quality round of golf against Baylor and thought we had the win, but every one of our guys fought their heart out and because of that, we were probably a little flat coming out for the afternoon matches," head coach Tom Shaw said. "It was gutting to lose today's matches the way we did because it was not representative of the quality effort that our guys gave. I'm proud of that effort, and we continue to show strides every single week this spring."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alex Clouse and Francisco Osio each picked up wins against the Bears, while Zane Heusel forced a 19th hole against Baylor's Mark Reppe.
- Johnny Keefer put Baylor in the championship match with a birdie putt on the 18th hole.
- Heusel and Brian Choe each came away with a win in the finale against Texas State, with the latter winning on the 19th hole.
- The Wildcats fell behind early against the Bobcats but rallied to take the lead with only two holes to go.
- The match came down to the final hole, where Texas State made an impressive birdie to gain the victory.
