
ACU in Second Place at Military City Collegiate With Four Wildcats in Top 10

SAN ANTONIO - Four Wildcats landed in the top 10 to spearhead Abilene Christian men's golf to second place through two rounds at the Military City Collegiate presented by USAA at TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course on Monday. ACU was one of two teams below par at 1-under 575 with the most individuals in the top 10.
The Wildcats were one of six programs in the 12-team field to complete the second round before play was suspended due to darkness. The third and final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
ACU finished just one stroke back of first-place Middle Tennessee as Thomas Buisson, Colin Leonard, Tres Hill and Jack Hollingsed each placed within the top 10. The Wildcats shot 3-over 291 in the opening round before improving to 4-under 284 to close out the day.
ACU ranks second in the field on par-3 and par-5 holes at 4-over and 9-under, respectively. It shot third-best on par 4s. The Wildcats logged the fourth-most birdies with 31 and tied for the fewest bogeys.
Buisson paces ACU in a draw for third place at 2-under 142, carding a 1-under 71 in both rounds. He's tied for eighth on par 4s at 1-over and is one of the best in the field on par 5s, tying for second at 5-under. Buisson totaled seven birdies, as well as an eagle on No. 15 in the second round to finish his day.
Leonard followed in a tie for seventh in his fourth tournament of the season. He registered an even-par 144, bouncing back from a 2-over 74 in the first round with a 2-under 70 in the second. Leonard was the second Wildcat to record an eagle, doing so on No. 12 in the second round. He notched a birdie on the next hole to end the day on a high note.
The San Angelo, Texas product tied for eighth on par 5s at 3-under and drew for sixth with 24 pars.
Hill and Hollingsed each tied for ninth place at 1-over 145. Hill leads the competition with 27 pars, while Hollingsed's eight birdies pace the Wildcats and are tied for eighth overall. Hollingsed's four bogeys are tied for third in the field and are the fewest amongst the Wildcats. Both lead ACU and are drawn for seventh on par 3s at even-par. Hill and Hollingsed matched each other on par 4s and par 5s, as well.
Grégoire Hoyeau rebounded from an 8-over 80 in the first round to shoot an even-par 72 in the second. He tied for 41st at 8-over 152, rising 20 spots from one round to the next with six birdies in the second round.
Preston DeFriend was the final Wildcat in the mix, competing as an individual. He placed 68th at 18-over 150 with three holes to go in the second round.
