ARLINGTON, Texas - Grégoire Hoyeau was tabbed the University Credit Union WAC Men's Golfer of the Week by the Western Athletic Conference on Thursday. Hoyeau captured a share of the individual title at the Robert Kepler Invitational last week for the first victory by an Abilene Christian men's golfer since 2021.
Hoyeau fired a career-best 9-under 207, engineering the top performance in the field in the final round at 6-under 66 to rise seven spots on the leaderboard. It's the best showing by an ACU golfer this season and the lowest score since Preston Cooper shot 10-under 206 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in 2024.
Hoyeau tied for third with 15 birdies and recorded the fewest bogeys among 84 players with just four. He was the top golfer on par-4 holes at 7-under.
The Paris, France product is the Wildcats' first champion since Alex Clouse won The Big Texan in Kerrville, Texas in 2021. Hoyeau garnered the second weekly honor of the season for ACU after fellow Frenchman Thomas Buisson was named the WAC Men's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 26.
ACU paced the field with 180 pars and tied for the second-fewest bogeys with just 40. A Wildcat has placed within the top five at the team's last three events.
Hoyeau guided the Wildcats to their fifth consecutive top-five performance and their sixth in their last seven events. They now prepare for the WAC Championship on April 27-29 at The Dye Golf Course at Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Hoyeau's victory comes after the Wildcats secured the title at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational presented by L.A.B. Golf on March 30-31. The senior tied for sixth at 4-under 212, scoring 7-under 65 in the third round. Hoyeau has three top-10 outings this season and seven in his career at team events.
