ACU Wraps Up First Tournament of Season at Canadian Collegiate Invitational

MACTIER, Ont., Canada — Abilene Christian men's golf closed out the Canadian Collegiate Invitational in a tie for 12th place at Öviinbyrd Golf Club on Tuesday. Luis Buech led the Wildcats in their season-opening tournament, tying for 35th place at 13-over 226.
ACU wrapped up at 61-over 913 after scoring 41-over 325 in the third and final round. New Mexico topped the leaderboard at 5-under 847, while the Lobos' Johnnie Clark secured the individual title at 6-under 207. The Wildcats are back in action beginning next Monday at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Houston's Westwood Golf Club.
ACU ranked second in the field with 158 pars. Buech scored 9-over 80 in the final round with a birdie to begin the back nine. Rex Hargrove followed in a tie for 40th place at 15-over 228.
Jack Hollingsed tied for 45th on the leaderboard at 16-over 229, while Maximilian Björnström drew for 58th place at 20-over 233. He tied for ninth with 34 total pars over the three rounds.
Kade McDonough closed things out for ACU in 65th place at 23-over 236. He logged a pair of birdies on Tuesday.
