ACU Tied for Fifth Place Through Two Rounds at Robert Kepler Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Abilene Christian men's golf rose four spots to tie for fifth place through two rounds at the Robert Kepler Invitational at Columbus Country Club on Saturday. The Wildcats slotted in at 2-under 574 with Grégoire Hoyeau leading the way in a tie for eighth place at 3-under 141.
ACU will close out its final event of the regular season at 7:35 a.m. (CT) Sunday on hole No. 1. The Wildcats are tied with Cal Poly and six strokes back of fourth-place St. Thomas. Hoyeau is four strokes behind the individual leaders.
ACU put together one of the top second rounds in the field at 5-under 283 following a 3-over 291 in the first round. The Wildcats minimized their mistakes, leading the field with 121 pars and tying for the second-fewest bogeys with just 28. They tied for third on par 3s and par 4s.
Hoyeau jumped 15 spots with a 3-under 69 second round. He collected five birdies, including on his last two holes, and shot below par on the front and back nine. Hoyeau shot an even-par 72 to get the day started, closing at 1-under 34 on the front nine with a trio of birdies.
The Paris native tied for eighth with eight birdies and drew for the second-fewest bogeys with only three. Hoyeau ranks second on par 4s at 3-under.
Colin Leonard followed in a tie for 26th at an even 144. He scored 1-under 71 in the first round and followed at 1-over 73 in the second. Leonard birdied his final hole of the day and shot below par on six holes. He tied for fifth on par 3s at 1-under.
Thomas Buisson shot up 20 spots in the second round at 1-over 145. He shot 2-under 70 to wrap up Saturday after opening at 3-over 75. Buisson totaled five birdies, including four in the second round in which he shot 2-under on the back nine.
Jack Hollingsed tied for 48th at 2-over 146, scoring 1-over 73 in both rounds with five birdies. Tres Hill experienced a rise of his own, jumping 10 spots to a draw for 57th at 3-over 147. He improved by four strokes with a 1-under 71 second round after opening at 4-over 76. Hill notched three consecutive birdies on the second round's back nine for five total.
