ABILENE – Grayson Tatrow and
Brett Hammit each hit home runs Tuesday night at a chilly Crutcher Scott Field against No. 19 TCU, however, it a game that got away from ACU (11-9) early on, as the Horned Frogs pulled away, 14-3, in seven innings. TCU (15-5) scored five runs in each of the first two innings to pull away early in the first of two meetings in a week between the teams. ACU returns to The Crutch this weekend to resume WAC play against Tarleton.
How It Happened
- TCU sent all nine to the plate in the first inning, scoring five times, and sent all nine to the plate in the second inning, scoring five more times. The Horned Frogs added two more in the third to lead 12-0.
- Tatrow launched a two-run shot to right center field in the bottom of the third to score
Mitchell Dickson.
- Hammit mashed a solo shot to left field to make it a 12-3 game in the bottom of the fourth.
- TCU scored two in the fifth to lead 14-3.

- Tatrow's homer was his team-leading fifth of the season, while Hammit's was his fourth.
- Dickson, Tatrow, Hammit,
Alexei Cazarin, and
Tanner Tweedt all recorded hits.

Riley Bauman took the loss on the mound, making his first start as a Wildcat.

Drake Boggan threw 1.1 innings out of the bullpen, while
Adam Byrd threw 0.1 inning, and
Sam Berberich went 1.0.

Adam Stephenson had a nice outing, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing one earned on one hit with three strikeouts.

Trevor Jackson threw 2.0 scorless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out a season-high four.
Beyond the Box Score
- Hammit homered in the opening series against North Dakota State, and hadn't homered again until the SFA series. He has now homered in three of the last four games.
