
Wildcat Soccer heads to pacific time zone this weekend

ABILENE – The ACU soccer team hits the road again for a long road trip this weekend, encompassing over 2,400 total miles round trip as they head west to Phoenix, Ariz. before traveling to Riverside, Calif. for two big WAC contests. The Wildcats (4-5-3, 0-3-2 WAC) will take on last year's WAC Tournament runner-up Grand Canyon on Friday, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. CT before battling California Baptist on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. CT to close out the weekend. ACU is coming off a bye week and is wrapping up its four-game road trip that encompassed three weeks. Both games this weekend air on ESPN+.

ACU STORYLINES
- OFFENSIVE LEADERS – Senior Jordan Michie and sophomore Chayse Thorn lead ACU this season offensively, tallying four goals apiece. Thorn led the way early on this season with her four scores in the first six games of the season, and Michie has led the way as of late, scoring in four of the last seven games for ACU. The two have combined for 44% of the scoring this season for the 'Cats.
- SHUTOUTS – When ACU wins, they win in dominant fashion. The 'Cats have scored 13 goals in their four wins, and all four have been shutouts. Lily Foster leads the way with two solo shutouts, and combined for another with Savanna Alba and Lili Ross.
- THE COACH – Head coach Casey Wilson, in his 16th season, is approaching 170 wins at ACU. The head man has 167 victories in his time as the only coach in program history.
- HISTORY BOOKS – Senior Natalie Jones is currently fourth all-time in career points (50), and sixth all-time in career goals scored with 18, tied with Caylen Wright. Jones also ranks fifth in program history with 14 career assists, and her 162 career shot attempts are seventh all-time.

SCOUTING GRAND CANYON (5-5-2, 1-3-1 WAC)
- The Lopes are coming off a weekend that featured a scoreless tie with UTRGV and a 1-0 win at SFA. The tie snapped a four-game losing streak as they try to get back on track.
- GCU has scored 15 times this season, and Gianna Gourley has scored eight of those goals. Her 51 shots are 15 clear of second place on the squad as well.
- Jordan Ferguson and Shantel Hutton have split time in net this season, with Hutton tallying 17 saves and Ferguson totaling 11. Ferguson is 4-2-1 in net, while Hutton is 1-3-1 in 2022.
SCOUTING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST (5-3-3, 2-2-1 WAC)
- The Lancers are looking to end their three-match winless streak after falling to SFA, 2-1, last Friday, and tying UTRGV, 1-1, on Sunday. CBU hosts Tarleton on Friday night.
- CBU has been led by three players offensively; Lourdes Bosch, Ari Coronado, and Karley Weeks all lead the way with four goals scored.
- Noa Schumacher has seen the most time in net with 10 starts, and is 4-3-3 on the season with 66 saves.
