Wildcats begin push for berth in NCAA tournament Monday

ABILENE – The ACU golf team will begin play for a spot in the NCAA postseason Monday at the Southland Conference Men's Golf Championship at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.
The Wildcats enter the tournament as the fourth seed behind No. 1 Sam Houston State, No. 2 McNeese and No. 3 Stephen F. Austin. Seeding is based off the division ranking. Freshman Alex Clouse enters the tournament ranked No. 11 and Garrett Glanton 14th in the individual rankings.
Wildcat Lineup: The Wildcats will go with a lineup consisting of juniors Garrett Glanton and Kade Miller, sophomore Bryce Dooley and a duo of freshmen in Alex Clouse and Daniel Seibert.
The Course: The Dye Course at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club set up as a par-72, 7,346-yard course.
Format: The team championship will be determined on the basis of fifty-four (54) holes of stroke play unless weather interrupts the schedule, in which case eighteen (18) holes of stroke play shall constitute the minimum number of holes for determining a champion. The tournament shall be conducted over a three (3) day period, with eighteen (18) holes played each day. Each round of the tournament will begin on Hole #1 of the Dye Course.
The Field: ACU will face off against Sam Houston, McNeese, Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls, UIW and New Orleans.

Review of Last Year: Last season, Bryce Dooley tied for 22nd playing three rounds of 79 scoring 237. ACU finished in 8th place scoring 958.
NCAA Automatic Qualification: The winner of the championship will be the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. In the event the entire tournament cannot be played or a minimum of eighteen (18) holes due to the inclement weather, the conference men's golf program with the highest national Golf Stat ranking will be the representative to the NCAA Championship. The conference tournament individual medalist shall receive an automatic invitation as an individual to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. In the event the entire tournament cannot be played or a minimum of eighteen (18) holes due to the inclement weather, the conference men's golf student-athlete with the highest national Golf Stat ranking shall receive the automatic individual invitation to the NCAA Championship.
