Wildcats set to take on top field at The Goodwin

ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats are stepping into the frying pan this weekend when they begin play Thursday at The Goodwin, one of the most prestigious collegiate golf tournaments in the country.
The Wildcats will be part of the greatest field of teams any ACU golf team has ever faced: 11 of the top 50 teams in the country, including defending national champion Oklahoma, currently ranked sixth in the country. Other teams in the field are No. 5 California, No. 13 Stanford, No. 15 USC, No. 19 Arizona State, No. 24 UNLV, No. 30 BYU, No. 42 Oregon, No. 43 Northwestern, No. 47 Colorado, No. 48 St. Mary's, San Francisco, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Washington, Minnesota, Cal-Davis, Oregon State, SMU, San Jose State, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, and Sonoma State.
Wildcat Lineup: The Wildcats will go with a lineup consisting of juniors Garrett Glanton and Kade Miller, sophomore Bryce Dooley and a duo of freshmen in Alex Clouse and Chase Allison.
The Course: The 18-hole, 163-acre course is named after U.S. President Warren G. Harding, Harding Park Golf Course was opened on July 18, 1925, along the shores of Lake Merced, in San Francisco's southwest corner. Harding Park Golf Course will host the PGA Championship in 2020.
Format: Thursday's tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. PT (9:30 a.m. Abilene time) with ACU's first golfer teeing off at 7:30 a.m. at hole 10 and final golfer at 8:14 a.m.
ACU head coach Tom Shaw says: "We're excited to have an opportunity to put a disappointing finish at the ORU tournament two weeks ago behind us. We're playing on a beautiful course against the strongest field an ACU team has ever faced, and I'm anxious to see how our guys respond to this challenge."
