ABILENE – Abilene Christian men's and women's tennis teams play a combined six dual matches this weekend between their stops in Lubbock and Colorado Springs.
The Wildcat men (4-2), coming off a perfect 3-0 trip to Oklahoma last weekend, play a pair of doubleheaders at the U.S. Air Force Academy Friday and Saturday. ACU will first play Metro State followed by the Falcons on Friday and then battle Northern Colorado and UC Davis Saturday.
ACU is over .500 as a team in both singles and doubles thanks to the contributions of youngsters such as
Josh Sheehy,
Hunter Holman, and the doubles team of
Sebastian Langdon and
Brad Gleason, which is off to a 3-1 start at the No. 3 line.
Sheehy has been terrific at No. 1 singles for the Wildcats, having won four of five matches against opposition from Rice, Cameron, Oral Roberts and SIU-Edwardsville.
Holman, a transfer from Texas Tech, also has won four times between the No. 4 and 5 positions.
The Wildcat women (3-2) were in action earlier this week in Dallas, where they split a doubleheader with Dallas Baptist (W, 5-0) and SMU (L, 2-5), and on Saturday they'll follow an 11 a.m. match vs. Texas-Permian Basin with a 4 p.m. dual with the Red Raiders.
Senior
Nada Marjanovic currently leads ACU in singles play with a 6-1 record. She also has a 6-4 mark in doubles, having competed alongside three partners. Senior
Kaysie Hermsdorf and junior
Erin Walker also have winning records in doubles at 8-3 and 7-3, respectively. Hermsdorf is 5-3 with sophomore
Lucile Pothier and 2-0 with Walker as her teammate.
Walker additionally has won four matches with sophomore
Whitney Williams and they are 2-2 overall at No. 1 through four dual matches.
