AUSTIN – Abilene Christian men's tennis strung together some competitive stretches during its Tuesday dual match vs. the 12th-ranked Longhorns at the Weller Center but couldn't quite come through with any victories in a 7-0 loss.
Today's match was the season opener for both teams.
In doubles the Wildcat team of
Sebastian Langdon and sophomore
Brad Gleason nearly pulled off the upset at No. 3, falling to Colin Markes and Harrison Scott, 7-6 (2). Scott is ranked 94th in singles and is 46th in doubles with John Mee, who did not play this afternoon.

Josh Sheehy was edged, 6-4, and at No. 2 sophomore
Paul Domanski and senior
Jason Proctor were doubled up, 6-3.

The Longhorn junior won the first set 6-1, and then lost 6-3 before rebounding to win the super-tiebreaker, 10-6, with the match already in hand as all other matches were decided in straight sets.
Adams played a close first set at No. 5 only to lost to Markes, 7-5, 6-1, and at No. 3 and 4, the Wildcats lost those matches by identical 6-3, 6-1 scores.
The Wildcats continue their season-opening road trip Friday with matches at Prairie View A&M (9 a.m.) and No. 58 Rice.
