ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats took a breather from Southland Conference action Saturday afternoon and picked up a much-needed win as they demolished Dallas Christian, 108-69, at McMurry's Kimbrell Arena.

The game was played away from the ACU campus because the university's annual Sing Song performance has taken over Moody Coliseum for the last week. The win pushes the Wildcats to 9-17 overall as they get ready to play two more non-conference opponents over the next seven days.

ACU will be back in action Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. when it takes on Arlington Baptist at Moody Coliseum (women's game at 5:30 p.m.), and then will take on Southwestern Adventist next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.

Saturday afternoon's outcome was never in question after a flurry of ACU first-half buckets turned an 8-5 Dallas Christian lead into a 20-10 Wildcat advantage with 13:43 to play in the game. The early flurry was led by sophomore guard Parker Wentz, who had 14 first-half points on 5 of 6 shooting from the field (4 of 5 from 3-point range).

ACU led 59-33 at the half, thanks to 71 percent shooting from the field (22 of 31), including 57 percent from 3-point range (8 of 14). Julian Edmonson -- who finished with a team and career-high 27 points -- had 13 in the first half to complement Wentz.

Michael Grant had 14 points for the Wildcats, while Rafael Farley and James Pegues each had 10 for ACU. The Wildcats finished the game shooting 58 percent from the field (39 for 67) as they topped 100 points in a game for the first time since a 102-70 win over East Central on Dec. 8, 2008, at Moody Coliseum.
