Alex Carpenter is tied for first place at 4-under-par 140 following two rounds of competition Monday at the Dallas Baptist Golf Classic here at the Hackberry Creek Country Club.
Carpenter, who is in search of his 20th collegiate tournament victory, fired a 3-under 69 in the first round and a 1-under 71 in the second. He is tied for the lead with Alasdair Dalgliesh of Oklahoma Christian and two strokes ahead of third place Jeremy LeGuen of Midwestern State.
Rounding out the top-five individuals are St. Mary's Chris Contreras (1-under 143) and St. Edward's Andres Rodas (par-144).
LeGuen, however, is one of four Mustangs placed among the top 14 and Midwestern State will begin Tuesday's third and final round three strokes ahead of Oklahoma Christian at 4-over 580. Host Dallas Baptist is in third place at 12-over 588 followed by Texas Wesleyan (23-over 599) and Northwood (29-over 605).
The Wildcats, meanwhile, are in 12th place at 42-over 618.
