Wildcats Nip Falcons, 5-4

ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats closed out their non-conference schedule on Tuesday as they picked up a 5-4 win in the bottom of the ninth over Texas-Permian Basin at Crutcher Scott Field.
The Wildcats improved to 23-18 on the season while they are now 15-8 at home and return to Lone Star Conference action this weekend. ACU will host Cameron in a crucial three game series in Abilene starting on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
UTPB outhit the Wildcats on Tuesday, 10-8, however, it was ACU who made fewer mistakes capitalizing on four Falcons' errors. The final error cost UTPB the game after they had knotted the score at 4-4 in the top half of the ninth. Sky Valenzuela reached on an error to the UTPB shortstop that allowed Duncan Blades to score the game winning run after he reached to lead off the inning being hit by a pitch.
Starter Jason Harris went six strong innings scattering six hits allowing three runs and striking out two. Harris gave way to Brent Bray and Brady Rodriguez who each pitched an inning of scoreless relief before Will Calhoun entered in the ninth. Calhoun allowed two hits and gave up the tying run, however he would still pick up the win after ACU won the game in the bottom of the ninth.
JR Roland and Ian Tomkins picked up an RBI each in an error filled game. 
Bryce Gerhardt went 2-for-3 to lead the Wildcats at the plate.
ACU will close out their home schedule on Friday and Saturday as they continue to make a push for the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The Wildcats and Cameron will open their three game series on Friday at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday's double-header will begin at 2:05 p.m.
