ACU Finishes 4-0 in Austin

AUSTIN –After earning a couple of splits last weekend ACU volleyball finished the St. Edward's Tournament a perfect 4-0. ACU finished Saturday with wins over Missouri Southern, 3-0 and host St. Edward's, 3-1 on at the Recreation and Convocation Center.

In the morning contest ACU picked up the sweep over Missouri Southern with a balanced offensive and defensive attack. The Wildcats finished with a .200 hitting percentage in all three sets while holding the Lions to under .200 in the victory.

Being very efficient on the offensive side of the net tournament MVP, Kalynne Allen, and Shawna Hines had a blistering .455 and .429 hitting percentages respectively.

Hines led the Wildcats offensively hitting .389 over the weekend and was outstanding as always on the defensive side of the net with 18 blocks. Allen recorded 13 kills on 22 attempts while Hines added 11 kills on 21 attempts and four blocks.

Senior setter IJ Mornou recorded her fifth consecutive double-double and seventh of the season with 35 assists and 13 digs adding a block.

In the night cap the Wildcats picked up the tournament championship over host St. Edward's 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-16. ACU dominated the match with the exception of the third set as they were unable to overcome six errors; however the Wildcats did everything else right en route to a 3-1 victory.

Moronu added her eighth double-double with 33 assists and 13 digs while Jordan Schilling followed suit with 11 kills and 12 digs. Moronu added six blocks pacing the ACU defense which recorded 12 as a team. Freshmen Neely Borger added seven blocks for the Wildcats to lead the way.

The Wildcats added a pair of players to the all-Tournament team with Allen leading the way and grabbing MVP honors. Also earning all-Tournament accolades was setter IJ Mornou who led the way for ACU running the offense adding 149 assists and adding 51 digs on defense. Allen picked up MVP honors with 39 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. She was also solid on the defense side of the net with 41 digs and eight blocks.
