AUSTIN – In one of the most exciting games in the history of the ACU soccer program the Wildcats fell to St. Edward's in penalty kicks 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the St. Edward's Soccer Field. After playing to a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation neither team scored in two overtime periods ending the Wildcats season.

In the 20th minute Kelly Servage caught a loose ball to the right of the net as she pushed the game's first goal past Elliott London to give St. Edward's an early 1-0 lead. The Wildcats would control the ball the next few minutes as Andrea Carpenter beat her defender scoring her 22nd goal of the season.

After the first half both teams fell out of sync as the Hilltoppers managed the only goal in the second half. London picked up the only save as neither team could manage a shot with regulation ending in a 1-1 tie.

Freshman Brie Buschman was outstanding for the Wildcats on the defensive end stopping a few Hilltopper attacks in the two overtime periods.

The Wildcats entered their first shootout of the season as they tied St. Edward's 3-3 after penalty kicks. Julie Coppedge started of the penalty kicks pushing the first goal wide followed by a Carpenter miss.

Krysta Grimm would put ACU on the board in the shootout, but a St. Edward's goal would give them the lead back after three rounds. Lexi Stirling and Ashley Simon would follow suit pushing two goals past the Hilltoopper keeper sending the match into extra kicks.

Ashley Holton would miss her extra kick for the Wildcats as Kelly Servage would kick the game winning goal past London giving St. Edward's the win.

ACU ends their season after advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and setting a record for most wins in program history at 17-4. The Wildcats also capped off the season with their first ever Lone Star Conference Championship knocking of regular season champ Midwestern State in the finals.
