ABILENE – For the second time in the first five weeks of the 2010 season, ACU sophomore quarterback Mitchell Gale has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Gale set career highs for completions, attempts and yards in a game Saturday night as he led the fifth-ranked and unbeaten Wildcats to a 31-24 road win over sixth-ranked and previously unbeaten Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Stadium.
Gale completed 34 of 51 passes for 417 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats jumped out to leads of 21-0 and 31-10 on their way to their seventh straight win over the Javelinas. Gale threw touchdown passes of 26 yards to Edmund Gates, 27 yards to Justin Andrews and 10 yards to Ben Gibbs.
His 417-yard effort is the seventh-best single-game effort in ACU history. Going back to last season, Gale has thrown 240 consecutive passes without throwing an interception.
