National TV, Kickoff Time Announced for ACU at Texas Tech

FOX Sports announced on Wednesday that Abilene Christian's 2026 football game against Texas Tech on Saturday, Sept. 5 will be broadcast on FS1 with a 6 p.m. kickoff from Lubbock.
The broadcast will mark the Wildcats' first football game on a true national television network since the 2014 season opener at Georgia State, which was on ESPNU.
Tickets in the ACU section are expected to go on sale to the general public in mid-June.
ACU begins its campaign one week earlier with a nonconference bout against Lamar in Beaumont on Aug. 29. The first home game at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium is Sept. 12 vs. Stephen F. Austin.

ACU and Texas Tech squared off in an instant classic in 2024 when the Wildcats rallied from an 18-point deficit and were a 2-point conversion from pulling off the upset. The Red Raiders squeezed by with a 52-51 overtime victory, but the performance set the tone for ACU's first Division I conference championship season. The Wildcats followed up with another UAC title in 2025, and won an FCS playoff game for the second year in a row.
Only a handful of current Wildcats played in that 2024 matchup against Tech -- running back Rovaughn Banks, Jr. stacked up 65 offensive yards and a touchdown, and defensive back DeAngelo Ponder made one tackle -- so the memories may not be present for the competitors. But, the 60,229 fans in attendance, particularly those wearing purple and white, have not forgotten that night.
When this September's game gets underway in Lubbock, it will be the third nationally televised contest involving an ACU athletic team in less than a year. The Wildcat men's basketball team played at No. 10 BYU on TNT last November, and hosted UT Arlington on ESPNU in February.
