The Abilene Christian football team will travel to San Antonio for a nonconference game against the UTSA Roadrunners in 2027 as announced by ACU vice president for athletics Zack Lassiter on Tuesday.
Â
The matchup will be the first meeting between the two programs and will take place at the Alamodome on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2027. A kickoff time and ticketing information will be released at a later date.
Â
With the addition of this game and ACU's scheduled contest at Texas A&M in 2028, the Wildcats will have played ten games against in-state FBS schools in an 11-year span. ACU has squared off against Baylor, SMU, TCU, North Texas, Texas Tech and UTEP. Since 2018, the only season without a game against a Texas FBS school was 2022 when ACU played Missouri.
Â
The Wildcats' 2027 schedule now features three nonconference opponents. ACU will open the season in Abilene against Lamar on Aug. 28. A road trip to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches is slated for Sept. 18.
Â
ACU most recently visited San Antonio to play Incarnate Word in 2025. The Wildcats have played 17 times in the Alamo City with road contests against UIW and Trinity, and a neutral site game versus Sam Houston in 1952 which ended in a 21-21 tie.
