Bulldogs nip Wildcats, 1-0

WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- The ACU Wildcats' NCAA post-season hopes rest either on their ability to win the Lone Star Conference Post-Season Tournament or an at-large bid to the regional tournament.
If the Wildcats don't win the post-season tournament and the league's automatic bid, they certainly need to beat teams on their schedule that they're favored to beat.
In other words, Friday's 1-0 loss to sub-.500 Southwestern Oklahoma State did them no favors.
Courtney Hailey's goal in the 24th minute of the match was all the Bulldogs would need as they beat the offensively challenged Wildcats for their first LSC win of the season. ACU falls to 7-4-1 and 2-1-1 in league play, while the Bulldogs improve to 4-8-1 overall and 1-3 in the LSC. ACU will be back in action Sunday afternoon against Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
The Bulldogs managed to nurse a one-goal lead the final 65 minutes despite constant pressure by ACU. The Wildcats fired 21 shots at Bulldog keeper Chesley Dodd, while the Bulldogs only got off 11 shots.
