Biography

2023-2024: Indoors – did not compete indoors. Outdoors – competed in 9 meets in a very busy outdoor
season. Opened the season, by placing 3 rd in both the hammer throw and javelin at the Trinity
Invitational in San Antonio. She followed that effort by competing in three throws at that Wes Kittley
Invitational, ACU’s only home meet in 2024 – finishing 4 th in the HT. Additional highlights included a 3 rd
place finish in the HT at the David Noble Relays in San Angelo; a 2 nd place finish in the DT at the Joe
Gillespie Invitational in Stephenville; a 12 th place finish in the Michael Johnson Invitational at Baylor in
the HT, with a new PR of 154-9/47.17; and at the Corky/Crofoot Open at Texas Tech, she placed 2 nd in
the JT with a new PR of 42.71 and 6 th place in the DT with a new PR of 144-10/44.14. Competing at her
first-ever WAC Championship, she would finish the season by placing 7 th in the DT and 10 th in the JT.
2022-2023: Indoors – redshirt. Competed unattached in 1 indoor meet, placing 8 th  at the TTU Jarvis Scott
Open in the weight throw with a throw of 46-10.25 in the first meet where she ever threw the
WT. Outdoors – redshirt. Competed unattached in 5 outdoor meets. Throwing unattached, she threw 3
different implements (javelin, hammer, discus) in 3 of those meets. She won the TTU Masked Rider DT;
 and at the War Hawk Classic, she finished 2 nd  in the DT, 3 rd  in the JT, and 4 th  in the hammer.
Before ACU: Competed in volleyball, soccer, softball and T&F for the Geneva School of Boerne. Avery
was 2 nd  in the TAPPS 4A discus as a freshman, junior, and senior (her sophomore year was cancelled due
to the pandemic). As a HS senior, she also placed 3 rd  in the TAPPS District 4-5A shot put. Her HS bests
were 127-8 in the DT and 33-0 in the shot put.

Personal: A 2022 graduate of the Geneva School of Boerne, at ACU Avery is majoring in Public
Relations/Advertising/Applied Communication. Her parents are Robert and Kelly Myrick – Robert
graduated from ACU in 2000 and Kelly in 2002. Avery’s brother, Easton, is a letterman for ACU football.
Avery’s maternal grandfather, Berto Guerra, is a member of the ACU Board of Trustees.
