Pair of Wildcats Represent ACU Women at Regional Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Abilene Christian's Chianel Asoburuenwu and Mariana Van Dyk competed on Thursday evening at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West First Round at the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell Stadium.
ACU's two female regional qualifiers took part in their events simultaneously with Asoburuenwu running in the fourth preliminary heat of the 100 meter dash, and Van Dyk throwing in the first shot put flight.
Asoburuenwu, who transferred from to ACU from East Carolina, ran in 11.57 seconds and finished 32nd out of the field of 48. She placed ahead of runners from Texas Tech, Oregon, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Baylor.
Van Dyk tied for 44th with a throw of 14.04m.
The fifth and final Wildcat to compete in the regional track meet will be Arthur Jenkins in the men's triple jump on Friday at 6 p.m.
