High school: Two-year letterman in high school where he played right guard. As a senior in 2007 he did not allow a sack on his way to earning unanimous first team all-District 10-4A honors. He was also a first team Class 4A all-state selection by the Associated Press and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine. He was also voted Class 4A all-Dallas-Fort Worth by TexasPrepInsider.com. He also lettered in baseball.
